Genoa to add superyacht section to this year’s show (July 22, 2014)

Super Made in Italy is one of the new changes to the show.
Organisers of the Genoa International Boat Show said that the show would have a superyacht area. The show is scheduled to run from Oct 1-6, 2014.
The Italian nautical industry is undergoing extensive reorganisation so as to rapidly regain its position as world leader,” said Alessandro Campagna, show manager, in a statement. “With this in mind, the Show has already started introducing some major new features, such as the Super Made in Italy brand. This area, dedicated exclusively to superyachts, finds its natural setting where the ‘big boats’ are traditionally displayed, along the outside Marina Grande 1 wharf.”
Campagna said the new section aims to bring together the best Italian yachts over 24m. According to the Global Order Book from ShowBoats International, Italy currently has 40% of worldwide orders for yachts over 24m, compared to 71 in Great Britain, 70 in Turkey, 65 in Holland and 63 in the USA.
“Given the strong internationalization being experienced by the 2014 Show, Super Made in Italy will serve as a natural amplifier of the excellence of our shipbuilding industry,” said Campagna.
