Marina Port Vell to be transformed by Autumn 2012 (10-4-2011)

Berths for 30 superyachts to be provided

Work on transforming Barcelona’s Marina Port Vell is set to start in November and be completed by next autumn.

Working to a plan developed by the consultancy arm of MDL Marinas, the new layout will provide a total of 150 berths of which 30 will be for superyachts between 60m-90m (197ft-295ft). On the alongside berths, larger yachts up to 180m (591ft) will be able to moor.

Marina Port Vell was acquired by the London-based investment and financial services, Salamanca Group, in 2010 and from the start it had a clear objective to redevelop the marina as a leading superyacht destination. (IBI-Plus Daily, 4 October 2011)
