The Perini Navi Group delivers 60m Seahawk (13 November 2013)

The Perini Navi Group has delivered Seahawk, the first yacht in its new generation of 60m (197ft) sailing yachts. The 60m series follows a natural progression from the successful 56m series and two more 60m projects (C.2218 and C.2232) are under construction. The shipyard expects the larger series to achieve the same popularity as the 56m series.

Seahawk offers a large amount of interior space for a yacht with a gross tonnage of under 500 GT. She has a displacement of 570 tonnes and a variable keel length that allows for a draught that goes from 4.30 to 12.30m. The shipyard explains that her innovative lines and technological solutions will guarantee speed and performance under sail despite even more ample and comfortable interior volumes.

Once again Perini Navi has collaborated with New Zealander Ron Holland on Seahawk’s naval architecture, but thSeahawk2e yacht breaks new ground with a carbon fibre standing rigging. The booms and spreaders are also in carbon fibre as are the foils, head-stays and diagonals. The yacht has a total sail plan area of 2.125 sqm, featuring two aluminium masts of 62 and 52m. On the foredeck a new generation of fully recessed furlers for the head sails has been created by the Perini Navi Mast Division, which has also developed the new captive winches installed onboard which increase manoeuvring power and speed.
