Fraser to have presence in Singapore (2 August 2013)

The superyacht brokerage and services group is working with Julian Chang, former MD of Raffles Yachts

Leading superyacht brokerage and services group Fraser Worldwide is expanding its presence in Asia with representation in Singapore. Fraser is working with Julian Chang, former managing director of Raffles Yachts, to develop this presence, which will likely include a new office. Fraser already has offices in India and Beijing, China.

Through his involvement with Raffles Yachts, Chang has been associated with the construction of the some of the largest yachts built in Asia such as Asean Lady, Nero and currently the 88.8m (292ft) Illusion. The latter is the largest yacht yet built in China by volume at some 3,500 tonnes. She is set to be delivered in 2015 and is currently being promoted for sale through Fraser.

Chang told IBI: “I am now working with Fraser in South East Asia and will be helping them gain a foothold in Singapore and other countries.”

Patrick Coote, Fraser’s global marketing director, explained to IBI that having exhibited at the Shanghai Boat Show for a number of years and the response it had achieved, Fraser was becoming disillusioned with the China and Asian market.

This changed with the appointment of a new manager for the Beijing office who has since reversed fortunes and successfully brought a number clients to Fraser. The marketing of the Illusion came to Fraser through a relationship that sales broker Jan Jaap Minnema had with the shipyard. (https://plus.ibinews.com, 2 August 2013)
