UK training academy launches Superyacht Refit Diploma (26 February 2014)

The UK’s Maritime Training Academy (MTA) has announced the launch of a new Superyacht Refit Diploma.
The 10-module course begins on April 1, 2014, and covers topics such as project management, accountancy and payments, the refit process and refitting the yacht.
In line with MTA’s other courses, the Diploma in Superyacht Refits will be delivered through distance learning.
All students will be required to complete and submit the student assignments at the end of each module. Students studying the Diploma option will also be required to sit a final examination in either April or October 2015. There is also the option to attend two tutorial seminars, one mid-way through the course and one immediately before the examination.
“Professional STCW qualifications teach crew how to navigate the vessel and operate the machinery but little attention is focused on this equally important aspect of making sure the yacht, with all of its complex systems is properly maintained,” says course director Ian Biles.
“The Superyacht Refit Diploma aims to fill that gap by providing the student with the tools necessary, to prepare for and thoroughly execute a refit and/or maintenance period with expertise.”
Tutors and support staff from the MTA will be available to offer student guidance when required. (http://www.superyachtbusiness.net/news/uk-training-academy-launches-superyacht-refit-diploma/)
