Nautal, a Barcelona-based yacht rental company, has released a market report that shows the charter sector in Spain generated turnover €142m in one year. The study is the first to focus on the charter sector in Spain.
The report is based on operations performed through the rental company up to August 31, 2015. The study also cross-referenced data obtained from boat registration by boat type, length and average rent, and took into account information from a charter market study released in 2009, the latest report on the field.
The company claims that Spain offered some 4,038 boats in 2014, with an average occupancy of 31%, and with a charter rate of 111 days average. According to Nautal, the higher income comes from sailboat charters (43%), followed by speedboats (25%), yachts (15%) and catamarans (12%).
