Spanish shipyard signs refit contract (7 November 2012)

El Rodeo to work on Palmer Johnson’s Banyan

Algeciras-based shipyard and dry-dock El Rodeo has started refit and repair works on Banyan, a 31.09m (102ft) motoryacht. Built in 1980 by Palmer Johnson Yachts, Banyan has been chartering across the Mediterranean.

Works include exterior painting and refitting some of interior furniture in the cabin and kitchen alongside the installation of new carpets in the saloon, cabins and hallways. The firm will also be servicing the propulsion system having been on use for 2,000 hours. Pumps and engine machinery is also been checked.

“This contract is of great significance for us. The Banyan is a high-standard vessel and we will be working on her for the next couple of months,” naval architecture Remigio Garcia of El Rodeo shipyard told IBI.

Works are scheduled for completion on December 10, 2012.

Based in Isla Verde, on the southeast of Spain, El Rodeo Shipyard comprises a 22,000m2 dry-stock featuring a 100-tonne travel lift. (IBIPlus, 5 November 2012)
