Mixed reaction to new Istanbul show dates (30 September 2013)

While some exhibitors were unhappy that this year’s show clashed with Monaco, others felt that it had no impact on visitors

The 32nd Istanbul Boat Show, organised by NTSR, closed on Sunday in Pendik City Port Marina following its nine-day run.

The show organiser changed the dates of this year’s show, causing it to clash with the Monaco Yacht Show from September 25-28. Some of the exhibitors complained about the dates, whereas others considered the visitor profiles of both shows to be different, having no negative effect on visitor traffic.

The show was held over a 150,000sq m area on which 380 boats were displayed ranging from 3m-50m (10ft-164ft).

Turkish dealer Concept Marine said they were satisfied with the show, having received strong interest for its display of motoryachts.

NTSR is to donate five per cent of all box office ticket sales to TURMEPA, an NGO founded in 1994 by Turkish businessman Rahmi Koç and the Chamber of Shipping & Commerce to prevent pollution and protect biodiversity of seas and shores.

NTSR has also been organising the Golden Horn Boat Fest since 2013. Next year’s event will be held from May 8-11, 2014.
