Italians amend terms of mooring tax (29 February 2012)

According to marine service provider BWA Yachting, an amendment has been passed in Italy today that modifies the controversial ‘Mooring Tax’ which is due to become law on May 1st.

It is understood that only Italian flagged vessels will be required to pay the tax and therefore all non-Italian flagged vessels will be exempt.

Furthermore, the tax will only have to be paid on a yearly basis and will no longer include an option for daily application.

While the news is still unofficial, BWA says that it understands the final approval vote on this matter will take place either later today or tomorrow morning. (Superyacht Business, 29 February 2012)
